At New West Sports Medicine & Orthopedic Surgery we specialize in operative and non-operative treatments for all your orthopedic and sports medicine needs. Unlike many specialty clinics, you do not need a referral to see one of our providers. As long as your insurance plan does not require a referral, all it takes is a phone call from you to schedule an appointment with our highly-trained specialists.
In addition, all our surgeons are board certified in orthopedic surgery. This ensures our surgeons maintain the highest standards in their practice and continuing education. Furthermore, all our surgeons are fellowship-trained. Fellowship-training is an additional year of specialty specific training.
Our health care team includes Certified Physician Assistants (PA-C). PAs are trained to provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventative health care services under the supervision of a physician. These qualified practitioners enhance our team of physicians to provide you with the best personal care.
We know that you have options and we are thankful that you chose us. If you have any questions, always feel free to contact our office and our trained staff will assist you in any way possible.
To always provide the highest level of care, the New West physicians are continuing to learn and utilize new techniques that they can bring to their patients.
Dr. Mahalek performs spinal fusions using state of the art computerized navigation systems. As the region’s leading expert in this technology, he can perform surgeries in less time with minimal blood loss, and with an unparalleled margin of safety for the patient.
Dr. Paul Nielsen is the newest member of the New West orthopedic team. He specializes in hand, wrist, and upper extremity surgery. Dr. Nielsen performs certain procedures, such as Carpal Tunnel Releases, using only a local anesthetic, which means the patient is back to activities very quickly after a procedure.
Dr. Huebner will be continuing the tradition of total knee replacement excellence. Through meetings, seminars, and hands-on surgical training sessions, he is prepared to see and treat arthritis-related knee pain.
Drs. Heber Crockett, Nolan May, and Bernard Keown are trained ImPACT physicians. They participated in specialized training by the Nebraska Sports Concussion Network on the treatment and management of athletes with a concussion using the ImPACT Test application. ImPACT testing is used in the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, and numerous NCAA Division I Football Programs and is a great resource to bring to local athletes.
Dr. Mansuetta’s wrist joint replacements are a way for his patients to get pain relief while maintaining their wrist motion. Prior to wrist replacements, wrist fusions would help with pain relief, but would reduce motion. He also performs artificial thumb joint replacements, which are stronger and more durable than the ligament reconstruction techniques.
