Widely considered one of the foremost specialists in spinal diagnostics, Uday Doctor, M.D., has been treating patients with minimally invasive methods for more than 20 years. He is a member of the Fondren Orthopedic Group, and serves as the chief of the Spinal Diagnostics and Therapeutics Division at Texas Orthopedic Hospital.
Dr. Doctor’s earlier life was spent as a pediatric and cardiac anesthesiologist at Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas, following a residency at Baylor College of Medicine, a pediatric anesthesia fellowship in the Harvard combined program at Boston Children’s Hospital, and a cardiac anesthesia fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine. He was on the executive committee of Methodist Hospital during that time, as well as served as a clinical assistant professor at Baylor College of Medicine, where he trained residents and fellows.
With the advent of minimally invasive spine technology, and seeing the need to for a spinal diagnostic approach in medicine, Dr. Doctor re-trained by completing a Pain Management and Spinal Diagnostics fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine. In 1995 he co-founded SpineCare Consultants where he spent the next 20 years developing his unique approach to diagnosing and treating spine pain. In 2017, he merged his practice into the Fondren Orthopedic Group.
Fellow Houston physicians have voted Dr. Doctor to the exclusive list of Texas Super Doctors as seen in Texas Monthly for eight consecutive years, 2011-2018, a distinction held by only 5 percent of the doctors in the state.
